Current Expedition
2nd attempt at the big mountain
After an unsuccessful summit attempt in June 2007, we reflected long and hard on our immense challenge as both mountain climbers and socio-environmentalists. Although we did not attain our first goal as mountain climbers, we did achieve success for the environment and remitted over 10,000$ to Equiterre. As fathers and businessmen, the sacrifices made for a month-long expedition gave us pause as we looked forward to 2008 and beyond.

In August, after a couple of months to recover with our friends and family, we found a new wind in our sails. We also received some ground support from a longtime friend, Paul Livingston, who joined the management team of the project. This new found momentum focused our goal for 2008, a second attempt at the Summit of North America, Denali. We will train harder, prepare more and leave earlier to ensure every chance at a successful summit. And to keep our 7 year mission on-track, we need only summit 2 mountains in one year at some point. Afterall, in mountain climbing, even the best climbers only attain 1 summit every 2 attempts. There will be many set-backs on the mountain and off, the important thing is, we are more determined than ever. |
