The Vertical Marathon project is the initiative of two young Québec mountain climbers; Oury Dal Bianco and Sébastien Carelli.
Oury and Sébastien decided to put their passion for nature and climbing to good use by raising funds and awareness for the Équiterre environmental group. They will do so by conquering the 7 highest mountains of 7 continents over 7 years.
The combined altitude of the 7 mountains is just over 42 km, the distance of a standard marathon. A life changing and hopefully climate changing vertical mission!
The first mountain to conquer is Denali (McKinley) in Alaska in the spring of 2007. At 20,321 feet it is North America’s highest peak.
